What is a chiller van, and when do you actually need one?
A chiller van is a refrigerated vehicle that holds a fixed temperature between 0°C and 8°C, using a compressor and insulated cargo box instead of ice or dry ice.
You need one whenever a product loses quality above that range — fresh produce, dairy, chilled meat and seafood, cut flowers, or anything a health inspector would flag if it arrived warm. A standard van with the air conditioning on does not hold a stable temperature once the doors open at every stop, and it cannot prove that temperature to an inspector or a client afterward. A chiller van can.
Most bookings fall into one of three patterns: a daily run between a supplier and several drop-off points, a scheduled weekly or monthly contract for a business with recurring deliveries, or a one-off emergency move when a walk-in fridge fails and stock needs somewhere cold to sit for a few hours. Air conditioning cools the cabin, not the cargo box, and it stops working the moment the engine is off or the doors are open. A chiller van runs its cooling unit independently of the engine, holds temperature with the doors open during loading, and — on most of our vehicles — logs the temperature throughout the trip so you have a record if a client or auditor asks for one.

Daily rates start at AED 250 for a 1-ton chiller van on a city route, with fuel included. The price moves with three things: how long you book it for, which size you need, and whether you want a driver included.
Monthly and long-term contracts bring the per-day cost down by roughly a quarter compared to booking day by day, which is why most restaurants and retailers with a recurring route move to a monthly plan after the first few bookings. A same-day or emergency dispatch carries a modest premium over a scheduled booking, since it means pulling a pre-cooled van out of rotation on short notice.
